punto Skin & Coat

When it comes to the condition of a dogs skin or coat, there are many things that can affect it...most are related to nutrition.
There are are true allergies which can cause dry, itchy, flaky, sensitive skin. That, of course, effects the condition of the coat. Your veterinarian will sometimes recommend a good fatty acid supplement. Fatty acid supplements moisturize a dog from the inside out, and benefit the dog in quite a few other arenas.
Parasites can attack a dog significantly, both from the inside and out, changing the condition of the coat and skin. A single flea can nibble on "Rex" more than 350 times in a single day!
Then there are the dogs who are, at the end of the day, simply "coat challenged."

Any which way you look at it, the condition of skin and coat on a dog can be the sign of a bigger issue at hand. Always seek the advise of a veterinarian if the condition of your dog's coat declines.

One small note on flea control (again voicing my opinion)...please take a close look at the ingredients prior do dousing your pet in them. There are side affects. I have seen many an owner apply a topical flea chemical to their pet when it has open sores on its body.
There are other means of flea control out there, which your pet will thank you for in the end. Please also remember, if you have children...how often do they pet, hug, and kiss Rex daily?
